One professional, two licenses.
Aube is run by 上岡桃子 (Momoko Ueoka), a Japanese certified tax accountant (税理士) and a U.S. Certified Public Accountant licensed in Washington State, active.
Background
Four years in Big 4 audit. The Japanese certified public accountant examination, passed while still at university, at the first attempt. The U.S. CPA qualification after that, in Washington State.
The two qualifications were not collected for their own sake. They are the minimum needed to sign off on both halves of the same client’s position.
Why this office exists
Roughly sixty thousand Americans live in Japan. Almost all of them have a U.S. filing obligation, and almost all of them also have a Japanese one. Very few have one adviser who can see both at once.
The usual arrangement — a U.S. preparer who cannot read the Japanese paperwork and a Japanese accountant who has never filed a 1040 — is not anybody’s fault. It is simply a gap in the market that nobody had a reason to close. This office closes it.
How I work
Written first
Positions are set out in writing before anything is filed. If a position is uncertain, that is written down too.
Questions, not conclusions
The first meeting is spent establishing facts. A conclusion offered before the facts are known is worth very little.
Verified numbers
Figures come from documents, not from recollection. Where a document is missing, we say so rather than estimate around it.
Opening November 2026
